We chose instruments and tried out different rhythm patterns. Then we rehearsed playing together in time. We had groups of people playing music for the sea, climbing the stairs in the lighthouse, the light flashing, people moving around the lighthouse and the foghorn.

Year 2 visited Souter Lighthouse today. It was built in 1871 and was the first electric lighthouse in the world. We explored the engine room and the compass room as well as climbing to the half landing. We made model lighthouses with an electric circuit. Finally just before we left some children got to press the button to sound the foghorn!
In Science we have been finding out about natural and man-made materials.
We learnt that natural materials come from plants and animals while man-made fibres are made from chemicals. We watched a video showing how wool is processed from fleece to yarn. Next we tried some paper weaving to see how cloth is woven. Today we read the story of Hansel and Gretal. Next we role played conversations between the witch and the children.
Year 2 visited the year 6 class to test out the Maths quizzes they had made using the Scratch program on the computer.
