As part of our topic Geordie Life we visited Beamish Museum. We explored the pit village and the shops in the town. We also had a ride on a tram and an old bus.
We programmed sequences into an app called ALEX and moved up through the levels. If the sequence wasn't correct we had to debug it and try again.
Some of us worked on Kodable programming sequences on the net books. A group of children used a graphics package to draw rainforest pictures showing the types of plants and animals you would find in that habitat. We tried to solve some measurement challenges by investigating statements.
Do the people with the largest feet have the biggest stride? Is the length or your foot the same as the distance round your head? Is the total of all of your fingers the same as the length of your arm? We went for a walk around our village, Burnopfield to see how the land was used. Back in school we looked at Google Maps and traced the route we took. Then we made our own maps with grid references and a key.
We all enjoyed our fun run around the octagonal pond at Gibside. Some people wanted to race quickly and try to win while others just wanted to get round the course to the finish at a slower pace.
Remember to eat 5 a day. We made a healthy fruit salad with pineapple, plum, oranges, apple, melon and grapes.
Well done to everyone who took part in our Sports Day on Wednesday morning. We had great fun and there were some very close races. Congratulations to the blue team for winning the trophy.
